The Brazzo House JB Review

March 14, 2016

The Brazzo House has been around for quite some time, before Brazzo by The Bay (Jalan Skudai) and Brazzo Restaurant & Lounge (Jalan Ponderosa). They serve one of the better quality western food in JB, as Sean, the owner of Brazzo sought out the freshest cuts of meat and ingredients personally from Singapore and Australia. I’ve been to all their outlets before but I still felt that The Brazzo House is the best, in terms of food and ambience.

The Place

Located along Jalan Serampang, The Brazzo House is really a house converted into a restaurant, but don’t worry about parking as there is ample parking space just next to the house and there’s a guard who will guide you.

The exterior of The Brazzo House. You can even opt to sit al fresco on the second floor but it’s just way too hot at noon.

Other than the indoors sitting area, there is also a bar area further inside if you’re just here for a booze and small bites.

The Food

Char-Grilled NZ Lamb Rack (RM78.80)

This is Brazzo’s signature dish, lamb racks served with pepper sauce and a side of sautéed asparagus. Ooh, just look at those sexy grill marks, perfection! I ordered this at a medium-rare doneness which was just right for me, with its tender meat and crusty exterior.

The pepper sauce was a tad too peppery to my liking, but complemented the juicy lamb racks really well. The sautéed asparagus, on the other hand, was too oily and resulted in oil seeping out and staining the racks. Overall, this is a dish that I would come back for as the quality of the lamb was superior, and it doesn’t stink like most other lamb dishes that I had in JB. Very subtle. 🙂

Char-Grilled Chicken Thigh (RM25.80)

This is a more affordable dish, a whole seared chicken thigh seasoned with smoked paprika, served with homemade special sauce and sides of sesame salad and fries.

The chicken thigh was well seasoned and still moist on the inside, but the homemade sauce was slightly on the sweeter side. It was quite a flavourful dish as a whole and will definitely satisfy your hunger as the portion is quite big.

Truffle Fries (RM15.80)

When I saw truffle fries on the menu I was so excited as I didn’t know truffle fries exist in JB. The truffle fragrance was very mild, more like fries with a hint of truffle. But of course, it is way better than the Christmas special for MacDonalds, if you know what I’m talking about. 😉

Rose Tea (RM12.80)

Initially we wanted a refreshing iced tea but they only have the hot version of it. It comes in a cute teapot sufficient for sharing.

I always enjoy my dining experience in Brazzo, and for those interested, they also organize birthday parties and events often. Reservations are usually not necessary for lunch but it’s always quite packed at night, so do call them to be on the safe side. 🙂
